mei + troy {wedding}

I absolutely adore this wedding. Mei and Troy are originally from Perth, but now live in New York. They came back to Perth to tie the knot and celebrate with family and friends. As Mei and Troy were having a 11am ceremony and lunch reception, we started the photo session at 8am. I picked up Troy from his hotel and then went to Mei’s mothers house to get Mei before heading off for the location shoot. I remember Troy telling me in the car about how somebody questioned them why they were getting married on the 13th, thirteen being an unlucky number and all, Troy response was that was the only day their photographer had available. how cool is that? :)  Their ceremony was held in Victoria Gardens in East Perth, as Mei walked down the aisle with her father, two guitarists followed close behind her, oh my, it was nice :)  After the ceremony, Mei + Troy and all their guests walked over the bridge to Lamonts to feast on yummy vegan food. Mei and Troy planned their wedding to be vegan and as organic as possible. Even their wedding cake was vegan :) We had some fun setting up a photo booth for their guests to be silly in!

    Stunning as always! Every new wedding you post I get more and more excited that you are photographing mine and Malcolm's wedding.

  • Lovely images Samm! My favourites are the laughing ones 2nd from the bottom and the one in which they've got their eyes closed.

  • gorgeous photos... love the location ones at the start

  • Samm, you are amazing. Each image is so stunning -- you are writing poetry with moments and images.

    Hi Samm,

    Thanks so much for a wonderful day - we had a ball with you! The guests especially enjoyed doing the backdrop photos.

    The cake was made by my childhood next door neighbour, Ida McLeod. The red velvet cake is a favourite of Mei's, a classic southern U.S. recipe. We had thought of skipping the cake altogeter, but then stole the idea from Ellen Degeneres & Portia de Rossi! (http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20220057,00.html)

    The music was played by Ben Sherridan and Jeff Ramage of Twelve. They managed a beautiful acoustic version of 'Somebody' by Depeche Mode, and also played 'Divinity' by Amorphous Androgynous (aka FSOL).

    My suit was from Duncan Quinn - a British ex-pat, ex-corporate lawer now style icon bringing Savile Row tailoring to the states. (http://duncanquinn.com) Mei's beautiful dress was from Claire Pettibone (http://www.clairepettibone.com/)

    Barbara Walton was a beautifully humble and humourous celebrant (http://perthweddings.com.au/) and the day went off without a hitch thanks to Jenn Veza (http://originalwedding.com.au/). The stunning flower arrangements were made from all local, in-season flowers! Thanks to Flowers by Michelle (http://www.flowersbymichelle.com.au/)

    The day was meant to be simple and enjoyable, but bring together our values and the things we love with classic understated style and class. Naturally, you were the only choice as photographer!
